So Grateful!

Motorcycle accident

I was getting in the shower on Tuesday night when my brother called. He was very calm on the phone and I wasn't thinking anything of the fact that he was calling me. I said "what's up?" and he delivered some of the worst news i've ever gotten in my life. My dad and my niece Danielle were in a motorcycle accident about an hour earlier. At first I was in shock. Not sure what to think. I asked "are they o.k." and my brother told me that Danielle was doing really good, she had received a lot of road rash having the fact that my dad and her slid down the road about 100 ft. But other than the road rash Danielle was doing awesome. My dad on the other hand wasn't in such good shape. His right hand was badly injured and was going to need surgery. And that he had a hole in the back of his shoulder. They did some tests and found out that he had 2 cracked ribs and his ankle was swollen. They couldn't do the surgery at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo and that they had to transfer him up to the new IMC Hospital in Salt lake City. When they got him there and did further investigation they found that his clavicle bone and ripped through his body and punctured out his back. Wednesday morning they took him into surgery and worked on his hand and his shoulder. They had to pin his thumb back into place. And clean out his shoulder really good from infection and blood. Needless to say he is doing better but still in a lot of pain, and in the hospital. Dad we are soooo grateful that you are o.k. The highway patrol man said that if they hadn't been wearing their helmets they could have been killed. We feel blessed as a family that they are both still with us and that all is going as well as can be expected. We love you both and are praying for you.

2 people that make me smile.:

Oh My Gosh! Can I just say OUCH!!! ooohhh I'm gonna have to show Geoff, I'm sure it wont stop him from riding but hopefully convince him to ALWAYS wear a helmet!
I'm so glad it wasn't worse, even though it is so bad, it looks like someone was definatly looking out for them!

This is so scary! I'm always worried about Rob riding his bike. He does always wear his leather jacket and helmet, but that wouldn't prevent a hole in his shoulder! I hope your dad and Danielle recover quickly!
